So I added a couple of hours to the demo on Sunday night in my spare time. Here is the actual demo and little bit of extra love on the character to see him through. Thanks to all that made it to the workshop it was really fun. A special thanks to Kevin and Estelle for having me.
The Totoro Auction was a big success and a really good time. Thanks again to Dice and everyone that worked so hard to do it. It was really neat seeing so many giants in one room like that. Special thanks to bidder #566!!!!

After 5 pretty exhausting days we're home. What a great opportunity to see amazing artwork and to meet the artists that create them. It was a real pleasure to get to meet Irene Gallo, Gregory Manchess, John Howe, Eric Fortune, Todd Lockwood, Rebecca Guay and Donato Giancola among so many talented others. I was so excited talking to so many illustrators that I lost my voice. It was a great experience and I hope to do it again next year. Here is a pic of the booth my wife Andrea and I spent so much time building.
I got a booth at this year's San Diego Comic Con. The convention runs from July 24th to the 27th. My booth is #4720 in the Fantasy Illustrator's Area and I'll be there all 4 days selling prints of my artwork. The convention is almost sold out. Hope you all can make it.
I was fortunate enough to be asked by the über talented Daisuke Tsutsumi to contribute a piece for a charity event called the Totoro Forest Project. This project is a benefit to save the Sayama forest on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan, and was established by the oscar winning filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. My little piece was done in carbon pencil and watercolor and is a little portrait of a little wind blown tree spirit protecting her tree.
Click the title for a link to a quick interview with Post about the VFX on the film. The interview was done early on so at this point we had to keep all of the secret plot points..uh...secret. Indy was a really fun project to work on and of course one of my earliest inspirations for wanting to work in film.
Another quickie and what do you know its the exact same composition as the last one. This was inspired after an Art Department ski trip. I wanted to record some of the things I saw from the mountain.
This is a better view of the previous post. It was really just a doodle sketch for a lone figure in a landscape. No grand concept behind it. Just going for something a bit mysterious and somber.
This is a quick 20-30 minute painting in photoshop. I tried to keep every step as a layer and then I rendered it out in a little movie. It was an interesting exercise.
The Spiderwick Chronicles is out. I spent about a year Art Directing on this one and had a really good time working on it. Hit the link for more info on the movie and my little part on it. Maybe some day I will be able post more of the artwork done for it.
Finally got to do this painting I have had in my head for a bit. There is a five page graphic novel that goes with it, except that parts not done. I'll post those pages as I turn them out. Happy New Year!!!
This is a quicky photoshop sketch of my drive into work. I was still inspired by the view when I got to my desk. It was painted from memory in about 10 minutes, hence the sci-fi looking bay bridge. I really need to get back to real paint soon.
